Exhibition opening - NAH UND FERN

Kurt Klamann (1907-1984) | Nicoletta Klamann (* 1970) painting | Roland Wolf (*1964) - wood design/ ship variations

This is the third time that paintings by the important artist Kurt Klamann, who was born in Zingst in 1907 and lived there alongside Berlin until his death in 1984, have been shown: alongside coastal landscapes of impressive colorfulness and power, "breathed" erotic nudes with unmistakably feather-light strokes and by no means still lifes. The highly talented master student of H. Orlowski and Prof. M. Kaus at the Berlin Art Academy worked successfully as a caricaturist and press illustrator for Ullstein and Mosse from 1931. After years of being banned from his profession by the National Socialists, he paints and draws again in Zingst from 1950, for example for the "Eulenspiegel".

The granddaughter, Nicoletta Klamann, born in Zingst in 1970, was born into a turbulent family of artists, as her grandmother and father were also active as artists. Her acrylic paintings are expressive, often colorful and always intuitive. Motifs unfold in the work process, are subject to their own dynamic, often dream or longing images of the viewer himself.

The focus of the wood designer and graphic artist Roland Wolff, born in Born in 1964 and son of the last lighthouse keeper in Prerow/Darss, is on individual ship variations, originally found objects, often from the beach. Wolff virtually "animates" them, eliciting his very own personality from the "basic stock". The artist sensitively works out exactly the ship that is inherent in the respective material, and the viewer sails on it dreamily out to new shores.
